Are you marketing to the wrong crowd? That's the question that this article is going to try to answer. Unfortunately, this isn't one of those subjects that is cut and dried. There are a lot of gray areas here. In order to best show you what I mean, I'm going to confine the discussion to a topic I know very well...making money online. Through this example, I think you will understand where I am coming from.
Okay, let's say that you have a product that is a make money online product. Let's further say that it's about how to use PPC advertising and the concepts inside of it are quite advanced with very little focus on basic techniques. In other words, a new person would find the book quite confusing. There are two ways that your marketing efforts could go wrong with this particular book.
For starters, if you try marketing to people brand new to making money online, the book is going to be way over their heads.
They'll probably be so confused trying to get through it that the frustration alone will lead them to asking for a refund. Therefore, in your marketing efforts, you should make it clear that this is an advanced book and if the prospect is new to trying to make money online that maybe they should pick up one of your basic books first, if you have one. This will save a lot of grief and a lot of refunds.Another way this can go all wrong is if you try to market the book to people who have no funds. Remember, PPC advertising costs money. So if you're marketing to a crowd that's looking for free ways to market, unless you are up front that PPC costs money, you're going to end up getting refunds because your target market doesn't have the money to use your system. While most marketers won't do this, it is important to make it clear that PPC requires an investment. However, if you're targeting people who already have basic PPC knowledge, they already know this.
Point is, you can have the greatest product in the world, but if you don't get it in front of the people who are interested in it and can use it, you either won't make sales or if you do make them, you'll get tons of refunds in the process.
So make sure you know who your target market is.
It will save YOU a ton of grief yourself.
To YOUR Success,
